Applied Nutrition ABE Review UAE 2026: An Honest Look at the Doses
Short answer
ABE gives 4g citrulline malate, 3g creatine, 2g beta-alanine and 200mg caffeine per 12.5g scoop, every dose printed on the label. The caffeine sits at the light end of the effective range and the citrulline is below the 6 to 8 grams used in research. It is halal certified and batch tested.
ABE is Applied Nutrition's flagship pre-workout. That is a reason to look at the label more carefully, not less. This review does one thing: puts every dose in the tub next to the dose the research actually used.
What is in one scoop
A 12.5g scoop, 30 servings in a 375g tub. Everything is disclosed in grams — there is no proprietary blend hiding how much of anything you are getting, which already puts it ahead of a large part of the category.
- Citrulline malate (2:1) — 4g
- Creatine monohydrate — 3g
- Beta-alanine — 2g
- Caffeine anhydrous — 200mg
- VitaCholine (choline bitartrate) — 250mg
- Taurine, plus vitamins B3 and B12
How those doses compare to the evidence
Caffeine: 200mg — light to moderate
The performance range in the literature is 3 to 6 milligrams per kilogram of bodyweight. For a 70kg lifter, 200mg lands at roughly 2.9mg/kg — just under the bottom of that range. For a 90kg lifter it is about 2.2mg/kg, which is below the dose most studies used.
Whether that is a flaw depends on you. If you are caffeine-sensitive, train in the evening, or already drink coffee during the day, a moderate dose is the right call and this is one of the few strong-branded pre-workouts that does not overshoot. If you are large, caffeine-adapted, and expecting to feel hit by it, you will not be.
Citrulline: 4g — below the studied dose
This is the clearest gap. Trials showing improved repetition volume and reduced soreness generally use 6 to 8 grams of citrulline malate. ABE provides 4g. That is a real amount, not a sprinkle, but it sits under the range the benefit was measured at.
Beta-alanine: 2g — works cumulatively, not per scoop
Beta-alanine raises muscle carnosine over weeks. The protocol is 3.2 to 6.4 grams daily, sustained. A single 2g pre-workout dose does nothing acutely, and on a four-day training week it does not reach the daily threshold either. The tingling you feel is paraesthesia, and it is unrelated to whether the ingredient is working.
Creatine: 3g — contributes, does not replace
The standard maintenance dose is 3 to 5g daily, every day, including rest days. 3g in a pre-workout you take four times a week averages under 2g a day. Useful as a top-up; not a substitute for taking creatine monohydrate separately.
What ABE gets right
- Full disclosure. Every active is listed with its dose. Proprietary blends exist specifically so you cannot do the comparison above.
- Halal certified, which very few pre-workouts at this level of distribution are.
- Batch tested for banned substances under the Tested for Athletes programme, produced in an ISO 22000, BRC and GMP accredited facility.
- Suitable for vegans.
- It mixes and tastes well, which is not a trivial point — a tub you dislike drinking is a tub you stop using.
Who it suits
ABE is a sensible everyday pre-workout for someone training four to five times a week who wants a moderate stimulant hit and a formula they can actually audit. It is the right choice if you value certification and honesty on the label over maximum dosing.
It is the wrong choice if you are chasing the strongest possible stimulant experience, or if you expect one scoop to cover your creatine and beta-alanine for the day. It will not.
How to use it properly
One scoop in 250ml of cold water, 15 to 20 minutes before training. Start on half a scoop for the first week to gauge tolerance. Never more than one serving a day — 200mg of caffeine is a real dose. Nothing after mid-afternoon: caffeine has a half-life of five to six hours, and losing sleep costs more than the session gains.
If you train four or more times a week, take creatine and beta-alanine separately and daily. The pre-workout is for the session; those two work on a weekly timescale.
What we do not claim
ABE will not build muscle. No pre-workout does. It makes a hard session feel more manageable and lets you push a little further on the last set, and over months that adds up — but the training and the protein are what change your body. Anyone telling you a pre-workout is anabolic is selling caffeine at a markup.
