Applied Nutrition Zinc capsules beside three notes: empty stomach causes nausea, high doses deplete copper, most needed by heavy sweaters

الزنك: الجرعة والأنواع وليه التوقيت مهم — الإمارات 2026

الإجابة باختصار

Most adults need 8 to 11 mg of zinc a day, and food usually covers it. If you supplement, take it with a meal to avoid nausea, choose any form except oxide, and keep your total from all sources under 25 mg a day, because long-term high doses deplete copper. Heavy sweaters and vegetarians benefit most.

أسئلة شائعة

How much zinc should I take a day?
Adults need about 11 mg a day (men) or 8 mg (women), and most people who eat meat or seafood get that from food. If you supplement, keep your total from food and all products under 25 mg a day, the European upper limit.
Why does zinc make me feel sick?
Zinc irritates the stomach lining, especially on an empty stomach and at higher doses. Taking it with a meal is usually enough to stop the nausea. You absorb slightly less with food, but a dose you tolerate daily beats one you skip.
What is the best form of zinc?
Citrate, gluconate and chelated forms such as bisglycinate all absorb well. Zinc oxide absorbs less: about 50% versus about 61% for citrate and gluconate in one crossover study, with some people absorbing very little of it.
Can too much zinc cause copper deficiency?
Yes. Long-term high zinc intake blocks copper absorption in the gut. Reported cases include anaemia, low white blood cell counts and nerve damage. Staying under 25 mg a day from all sources avoids this.
Does zinc raise testosterone?
Only if you are low in zinc. Correcting a deficiency restored testosterone in studies, but in men who already got enough zinc, a high-dose zinc product did not change total or free testosterone.
Does zinc prevent colds?
Not reliably. A 2024 Cochrane review of 34 trials found zinc may have little or no effect on preventing colds, but may shorten a cold that has already started, with more side effects such as nausea and a bad taste.
